Double Page Spread
Editorial design is refereed to design that is used in magazines, newspapers and books. It’s presenting images and words in a intelligent and unique way to create peculiar designs. The purpose of editorial design is to create a distinctive outcome that informs informations and images in a creative way. Ultimately, it’s a way to enhance a viewer’s experience of reading. There are so factors that need to be considered once designing for editorial design. For instance, the target audiences are different for newspapers and magazines. As newspaper’s target a wider audience, it has it set of rules when designing. However, for magazines they tend to be more specific to a niche meaning it can be more freely done.
So previously I created a magazine double page spread to experiment with layout and see how creative I can get. Following that it was time to create one that made sense to give it that real factor. The way we chose what we wanted our double page spread to be is by picking an artist to research about. We were given about 25 different artists and had to pick one that we liked. I like this as if we all got assigned to a certain artist we might not like his work and not be motivated to do the mini project to the best of our capability. Personally I love the way its turned out. I tried to do the design and concept in the style of Wolfgang Weingart. He is a typographic artist hence why I’ve headed heavy into a typographic design.
